Sting returns to the Dominican Republic - new performance confirmed...
Sting will perform at the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater in La Romana, Dominican Republic on Sunday, September 4th, 2011. For this show, Sting will be accompanied by a 4-piece band featuring his longtime guitarist Dominic Miller, keyboardist David Sancious, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and vocalist Jo Lawry. Fan Club sales for La Romana begin at 10AM (local time) on Thursday, August 4th. Eye Witness - Roger Puplett reports from Lyons...

July is the usual time most British folk escape the rain of our homeland for the more summery climates of our European neighbours. Well, since I joined this leg of the tour in Mannheim the rain has been following me! Normally this isn't a problem; tonight I'm in a beautiful Roman Amphitheatre in Lyon, open to the elements. Sting had a quizzical expression and meaning on his face singing out "it's a big enough umbrella..." lyric, on 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' tonight's opener (and not 'Faith' as earlier in the tour) that I wondered whether he had been caught in the torrential downpour we had experienced walking to the venue?

Sting, the magician of Fourvière...

The fans had been expecting him since 2006, when he last performed in the antic theatre. For his big return to Fourvière (Lyon, France) last Thursday for his big 'Symphonicity' concert, the English singer performed during over 2 hours a wonderfully reorchestrated show of his hits from his solo career as well as from the Police era in front of won over crowd of 4,500 people. All kept their fingers crossed. On the Facebook page of the Nuits de Fourvière(2), messages poured in all day: would the concert take place despite the forecasted rain? It had already played a bad joke on the singer in 2006, pouring continuously during the whole show...

Not sowing, but reaping…
The wild years are over, and passion too comes across a little more composed. Mannheim. In the end, you can't help being absolutely fascinated. moreover time, you fall deeper and deeper into a state of enchantment - even if it had been a bit of a dogged beginning two hours earlier and the high spirits took their time to arrive. However, it appears that Sting had planned his concert with band and orchestra deliberately so. Finally, with the first beats of 'Every Breath You Take', there is no more holding back: It seems as if nearly all 7,000 visitors jump up as one man and rush towards the stage. With the charismatic 'Desert Rose' as the first encore, the entire SAP Arena becomes one rocking dance floor - and the audience shows that it can get excited after all...

Sting performs his first concert in Gran Canaria...

Sting performed his greatest hits with the Philarmonic and an enthusiastic audience who enjoyed a great concert sound. He mixed songs from the Police years with the most popular songs of his solo career. At last the dream was realised. After 10:00 pm, a half hour later than the appointed time, Sting started the concert in Gran Canaria Stadium that ended two decades of waiting. The chords of the Police song 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' made the audience remember that they were in front of one of the great legends of british pop rock, the writer of songs known by millions...

Sting and orchestra bring magic to Montreux jazz fest...

Sting performed Police and solo hits including 'Roxanne,' 'Every Breath You Take' and 'Englishman in New York' in orchestral arrangement, bringing a sell-out audience at Montreux Jazz Festival to its feet. The fit 59-year-old Briton and his 'Symphonicity' tour delivered an energetic two-hour show on Monday night on the famed stage of the annual prestigious Swiss summer event. Live Nation announced today that the Sting Symphonicity performance previously scheduled for Monday, July 4th in Astana has been cancelled...
Amnesty International recently apprised Sting about the situation in Kazakhstan regarding the repression and crackdown against oil workers, their union leaders, their legal representatives & of the human rights NGOs working with them. In light of this current situation, with the unacceptable treatment being meted to these Kazakh oil/gas workers, their families and legal representation, which is extremely serious and continues to worsen, Amnesty International feel his presence in Astana will be interpreted as an endorsement of the presidents’ administration and surely will go against everything he has stood for, while supporting Amnesty and the fight for human rights, for the past 40 years. As a result, Sting has made a decision not to participate in the Astana Day Festival.
